The wicked unseen realm influencing our culture seeks to control the souls of humanity by appealing to the senses to get agreement through deception. The Enticing Door message focuses on the lust of the flesh. Historically nations fall after unnatural sexuality becomes normal, and the ancient spirit of lust, Ishtar has been the principality at the helm. This spirit is restless, preys on ignorance, bombards us everywhere with images of sex outside of God’s design to normalize it. It looks for ways to make us feel desirable, prepares for its attack, and deceives us. This spirit shows up as desire for the forbidden, promises satisfaction, and masquerades as you. But it gives birth to sin that will cost us, imprisons us like a slave led by a chain around the neck and will kill us.

We were not created to be led by our feelings or these deceptive spirits! We were created to be in a place of authority. We need to protect our heart through God’s Word. The Word will keep us in the right train of thought, will feed healthy desires, and will keep us alert. Don’t relax, like David did. We need to be wise and be accountable to someone else. Take measures to protect your relationships and future generations. Run for help if you are struggling and need help to stay pure. Use resources available to monitor devices in your home.

Opening Question or Ice Breaker

Talk about your experience when you went on your first roller coaster thrill ride!

Have someone read Proverbs 7:8-9 and Proverbs 4:20-23 and 1 Peter 5:8 and James 1:14-15 and discuss:

  • What would you want someone to say to you if you were the naïve man in Proverbs 7:8-9?
  • What are the ways to overcome the spirit of lust according to Proverbs 4:20-23 and 1 Peter 5:8?
  • James 1:14-15 – How does the enemy draw us away by our own desires?

Discussion Question 1

Let’s review together the process a person goes through after giving into lust and the vicious cycle that follows.

Have someone read Matthew 5:13 and 1 John 1:9-10 and Psalm 51 and discuss:

  • Matt 5:13 – How do we lose our saltiness?
  • How do we pray to return to God after a failure?
  • What did David do after he was deceived by and gave in to a spirit of lust?

Discussion Question 2

How could David, this strong man after God’s own heart, fail? What can we learn from David’s failure?

Make It Practical – Apply the Word:

This week let’s protect our time reading His Word, sitting in His presence, and allowing Him to reveal where lust has been evident in our lives.

  • Find someone we trust, confess to them, repent to God, and obey so that our prayers will be effective.
  • Scan the appropriate QR code and use resources to help build accountability with people we trust.
