God created the family as a reflection of His design, authority, and Kingdom. Throughout history, the enemy has sought to distort God’s design for marriage, sexuality, and family in order to pull humanity away from Him. As followers of Jesus, raising children in today’s culture requires intentionally building homes centered on God’s Word, teaching biblical truth to the next generation, and standing firm in His design for family.
Key Scriptures
- Genesis 1:27 — God created mankind male and female.
- Genesis 6:1–13 — The corruption of humanity before the flood.
- Leviticus 20:13, 15–16 — God’s standards for His people.
- Deuteronomy 6:1–12 — Passing God’s commands to future generations.
- Deuteronomy 6:4–9 — Loving God wholeheartedly and teaching children diligently.
- Daniel 1 — Remaining faithful in a hostile culture.
Unpacking the Message
Pastor Tracy taught that the battle over family is not new. From the days before the flood, through Sodom and Gomorrah, Egypt, the pagan cultures of Greece and Rome, and into modern society, there has been a continual spiritual effort to oppose God’s design for humanity. The enemy’s goal has always been to corrupt what God created and weaken the family, which serves as a picture of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus came to reverse the effects of humanity’s fall and restore people to a relationship with God. As Christianity spread, many pagan influences lost their power, but modern culture has once again embraced ideas that challenge biblical truth. The answer is not fear or retreat, but intentional discipleship within the home.
Moses instructed Israel to keep God’s commands in their hearts and teach them continually to their children. Faith formation was never meant to happen only in places of worship but throughout daily life—in conversations around the table, during travel, at bedtime, and in the morning. Strong families are built when parents consistently model and teach God’s ways.
Pastor Tracy emphasized that the issue is not simply whether someone says they love God, but whether they fear the Lord enough to submit their lives to His Word. Like Daniel, believers can remain faithful and influence culture rather than being shaped by it when God’s truth is deeply rooted in their hearts.

- Read a short passage of Scripture as a family.
- Have a bedtime prayer or conversation with your children.
- Speak a blessing over your family each morning.
- Use car rides, activities, or family gatherings as opportunities to discuss God’s truth.

Group Prayer
Father, thank You for creating the family as part of Your good design. Help us stand firm in Your truth and not be shaped by the surrounding culture. Give us wisdom to lead our homes, courage to teach Your Word faithfully, and grace to model a life that honors You. Strengthen marriages, protect children, and help us pass our faith to the next generation. May our families reflect Your love, truth, and Kingdom to the world around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
