God wants to be more than someone we pray to in emergencies—He wants to be our Provider in every area of life, including our finances. Why Giving First Takes Faith is because it requires us to surrender control, trust God as our source, and believe that His provision is greater than our fear. When we put Him first and yield our hearts to Him, we position ourselves for His provision, protection, and blessing—even in difficult seasons.

Unpacking the Message
Pastor David taught us that Jehovah Jireh means “The Lord Will Provide,” reminding us that God is actively involved in every area of our lives—including our finances. Through the story of Elijah and the widow at Zarephath, we see that even in seasons of lack, fear, and uncertainty, God is still at work behind the scenes. The widow’s breakthrough began when she trusted God enough to give first and act in faith, showing that obedience and generosity position us for God’s provision.
The message also emphasized that finances often reveal the condition of our hearts. Abel honored God with his first and best, while Cain gave leftovers, exposing a deeper issue of surrender. Pastor David reminded us that God is not simply after outward giving—He wants our trust, dependence, and full surrender. When fear, pressure, or loss try to take control, we are invited to place everything back into God’s hands and trust that He is able to provide, restore, and breathe life into situations that seem hopeless.
