Seeing the Secular reminds us that the worldview we embrace shapes every part of our lives. When God is our ultimate authority, His Word defines truth, truth shapes our identity, and our identity leads us to discover His purpose rather than being shaped by culture or personal opinion.

Unpacking the Message
Pastor James taught that every person lives according to a worldview, whether they realize it or not. The Christian worldview begins by recognizing God as the ultimate authority, allowing His Word to define truth rather than culture, personal experience, or public opinion. He explained that authority determines truth, truth defines identity, and identity determines purpose. When believers submit to God’s authority, they discover the freedom, identity, and purpose He intended for them instead of being shaped by constantly changing cultural values.
The message also emphasized that many of today’s cultural trends challenge God’s design by encouraging people to define truth, identity, and morality for themselves. Pastor James reminded the church that following Jesus requires surrender, renewing our minds with Scripture, and allowing Christ—not our feelings or the culture—to shape every area of our lives. Rather than responding with condemnation, believers are called to stand firmly in biblical truth while extending God’s grace, remembering that His Word not only sets us free but also keeps us free as we faithfully walk in His purpose.

Application
This week, intentionally evaluate the voices that influence your thinking. Spend time in God’s Word each day, asking Him to reveal any areas where culture has shaped your perspective more than Scripture. Choose one practical step to align your thoughts, identity, or actions more closely with God’s truth, trusting that His design always leads to freedom and purpose.
Group Prayer
Father, thank You for giving us Your Word as the foundation of truth. Help us to recognize the voices that compete for our attention and give us discernment to build our lives upon Your authority alone. Renew our minds, strengthen our identity in Christ, and lead us to walk faithfully in the purpose You have prepared for us. Fill us with both conviction and compassion so we may represent You well in a world that desperately needs Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🙏
