The Life You Were Made For reminds us that God created each of us with purpose, and that purpose begins with knowing Him personally. As we leave our past behind, embrace our identity in Christ, and live sacrificially for others, we discover the life God always intended for us—a life that impacts people and advances His Kingdom.

Unpacking the Message

Preston taught that living the life God created us for begins with truly knowing the One who made us. We cannot experience God’s purpose by simply knowing about Him—we must develop a personal relationship with Him. Just as people recognized that Peter and John had been with Jesus, our lives should reflect His presence. The more time we spend with Him, the more our character, decisions, and purpose begin to reflect Him. God knows us completely, offers His guidance, and desires to lead us into the purpose He designed specifically for each of us.

The message also emphasized that purpose requires leaving the past behind and moving forward in faith. Peter’s restoration after denying Jesus reminds us that yesterday’s failures do not disqualify us from tomorrow’s calling. Living on purpose often requires sacrifice, generosity, and putting the needs of others before our own. Like the early Church, we are called to live open-handedly, invest in people, and recognize that purpose may feel inconvenient at first before it becomes impactful. When we surrender our lives to God’s plan, He uses us to make an eternal difference.

  • Who has God placed in my life for me to influence or encourage?
  • What am I willing to sacrifice so someone else can experience Jesus?
  • Am I intentionally living for God’s purpose or simply reacting to life?

Application

This week, spend intentional time with God, asking Him to reveal the next step in His purpose for your life. Release any failures or regrets that have been holding you back, and look for one opportunity to serve, encourage, or sacrifice for someone else. Remember that God’s purpose is not only about what He wants to do in you, but also about what He wants to do through you to impact others.
